COMPETING FOR OXYGEN

Aeration is one of the most important components in keeping koi and koi ponds healthy and stress free. The ecology in your biological filter need ample amounts of oxygen just as much as your koi themselves. You do not want a pond system where your koi are competing for oxygen with the very same bacteria that is keeping them alive.

OXYGEN FOR BOTH:

Oxygen must be intentionally delivered to your biological filter AND directly to your koi oxygenating the inside of the pond itself. Koi will not grow without enough oxygen and forever have minor and or major health issues if not provided enough oxygen.

MORE OXYGEN NEEDED OVER TIME:

Please also keep in mind that the oxygen demand of your koi and your biological filter increases over time. As the ecology inside of your filter system becomes more dense and active it will require more oxygen to stay healthy an aerobic, and as you koi grow larger they will need to consume more oxygen to continue to thrive.
