Back Up Power For Life Support

Koi need oxygen, oxygen is delivered to the koi pond using electricity. It is important to plan a backup power supply if you either own or are planning to own a koi pond.

NO OXYGEN NO KOI

Koi can go without filtration for many days as long as the water in the pond is being replaced to get rid of things like ammonia and nitrates. Koi can not live very long without enough oxygen in their environment espencailly if they are accustom to have plenty of it. Abrupt environmental changes are a big stress on koi and oxygen is no exception to that rule.

SOLAR OR GENERATOR:

Solar power with a battery bank, or a backup generator are important things to have if you are serious about keeping your beloved koi pets alive. Power outages don’t happen often but it sure is nice to not have to worry about you pets dying when the power does go out. Avoid the heartbreak and expensive emergency calls and get your pond’s power source backed up! Pond pumps need to be kept going at all times. A back up power supply is also part of good pond maintenance!
